Chronic pain has been a big part of my existence for more than half my life. As difficult as it may be at times, I’m able to see the silver linings of it all. Life is not normal, but it’s my normal–it’s all I know. I still struggle with being known as lazy or someone who “doesn’t do anything all day, so I can’t possibly be tired”.
I guess I’m kind of an expert with more than 15 years of chronic pain under my belt. I’ve had my fair share of trial and error moments with scary dark feelings and thoughts that I somehow manage to overcome. But I’m more of an expert with my pain. No two experiences are the same, just like no two paths are the same. And not all chronic pains are the same, nor is one person’s pain more than the other. We all have something in our lives that may be hard to overcome. Some of us have more pain experiences than others, but in the end pain is pain and that is something to talk about.
I hope my blogs on chronic pain find you well. I hope you gain perspective, inspiration, motivation to carry on, and ideas of what you can do with your own chronic pain journey. I usually write what I know from my past mistakes, experiences, and realizations in hopes that someday, somewhere out there, I will have helped somebody with their pain.
