Postpartum Must-Haves

One thing I found helpful during pregnancy was a list of must-haves all in one place. My cousin created one and sent it to all her friends and family who were expecting and I gotta tell ya, it’s pretty amazing to not have to think too much.

But for the sake of not overwhelming you guys, I’m only going to name the top must-haves for new mommies! *P.S. pssst, friends of moms-to-be! These are great baby shower gifts! Mamas need lovin’ too. *

  • Frida Mom Disposable Underwear – found this the most comfortable. Bring a few pairs to the hospital. The mesh underwear they provide is uncomfortable and you just want to be as comfortable as possible. You’ll need it even if you have an emergency C-section.
  • For vaginal delivery
    • Frida Mom Peri Bottle – unless you have a bidet at home, this is easier to use than the one the hospital provides. Use warm water, as hot as you can tolerate it.
    • Take a sitz bath every day for at least 10-15 min until it feels better. Ask your postpartum nurse for the sitz bath tub that you can take home and how to use. Buy some Epson salt for it too. I liked this one.
    • Dermaplast – This comes in handy. I wanted something natural to spray down there, but ended up using it and wished I had done it sooner.
    • Donut Pillow – take the blow up one from the hospital if you don’t have one. You’re gonna need it.
    • Tucks Medicated Soothing Pads – I liked these better than the Frida Mom Perineal Cooling Pad Liners.
    • Frida Mom 2-in-1 Perineal Ice Maxi Pads – really soothing down there. Hospital provides them, ask for more to take home, but in case you run out, this’ll come in handy.
  • Auden Nursing Tanks and Bras from Target
  • Nipple Pads – you’re going to want to use them during the first few months of your breastfeeding journey. Your milk flow might come in a lot during the first few weeks and then it’ll self-regulate once you and babe have settled into a pattern. I liked this one the best.
  • Nipple Cream – a must-have for breastfeeding especially during the first few months. The Honest brand is my favorite.
